This place is ridiculously good. I don't live in Rochester but have to travel here for work a few weeks a year and have a company card to expense meals. As you can imagine I've ate at allot of restaurants in Rochester and this one is in my top 3. It can be a bit pricey but the food is Awsome, and the drinks are ridiculously large and boozy. I ate here tonight and ordered a margarita and watched the waitress probably pour 10 oz of tequila into a fishbowl margarita for $14. IYes they charge 18% gratuity. That doesn't bother me, I usually tip more then that anyhow. Although very stylish and moderne inside the location is in the hood. Personally this doesn't bother me but putting it out there in case someone is adverse to a little urban grit.
I was caught a little off guard when they asked for a cover charge but then they informed us that they were showing the fight it made sense. When we got inside the place was packed and the music was blasting. They played predominantly Spanish music but threw in other genres seamlessly and as a non-Spanish speaker at no point did I not enjoy the music that was being played. Who ever the DJ was needed a raise! We got one drink each and it was the blue margarita which was made to perfection and I almost forgot to take a picture of it because it tasted so good. I can't wait to go back because I really enjoyed myself.
My favorite place never been disappointed I do my girls night every time customers service is so amazing I love the young guy who always take my order along he's so cool and his attitude and customer services is outstanding u will all be happy going to 809 foods is delicious and breathtaking
This was my first time eating here and I had a very pleasant experience. Upon arriving we were greeted and seated immediately. The waitress came over and took our orders and brought us our drinks. I ordered a passion fruit margarita which was good, it tasted like real passion fruit juice was used. The only thing I wished it was a tad stronger, I couldn't taste a hint of tequila at all. For my meal I ordered churrasco (skirt steak) with garlic shrimp and mofongo. IT WAS BOMB.COM ok!!! Lol it was delicious. The steak was tender, juicy, and had a lot of flavor. The shrimp had a wonderful garlic taste that didn't overpower the meal but then again I love garlic. I asked for an extra cup of the garlic sauce to pair with my mofongo. It was delicious. I live in Syracuse which is about an hour away and I can say it was worth the drive. I'll definitely be visiting again.
I give 809 4 stars because the wait for a table and the wait for my food was long BUT the food was deliciou! Imy friends and I got the steak w/ onions rice and bean, mofongo burger, pernil sandwich and carne frita. We loved it! i got a free cheese cake for my birthday. The waiter was super nice and played a birthday song for me. Please come try the foo, it's worth the wait!!
I'm so glad 809 Sports Bar is still operating during COVID and obeying all guidelines. Through some friends recent post I noticed that they freshly renovated their upstairs into a chic restaurant setting. (Use to be a "club") with my birthday coming up I wanted to have a birthday dinner where I could put up some decor and have enough space to enjoy our dinner. I got in contact with the owner Esther and we met up. She answered all my questions and reserved the spot I wanted. Day of my dinner party, I came in a couple hours early set up. They greeted us with love. With her permission I decided to get a backdrop put up to cover our area to have more privacy. Our waiter, Adrian, who is the owners son did an amazing job of attending us and everyone else that was upstairs! When our food arrived it was delicious, I cannot complain about one thing on my plate! I will say that due to the establishment constantly being booked the wait time for food was long. If you're looking for delicious traditional Dominican food this is the place to go! I highly recommend.
